Student Support ~ We’re Here for You

Living and studying in a new country is an incredible adventure, but it’s also normal to face new challenges along the way. At Comox Valley International Student Program (CVISP), we want every student to feel safe, supported, and included—both in school and at home.

Whether you’re experiencing homesickness, having trouble adjusting, facing challenges in your homestay, or just need someone to talk to, you are not alone. Our team is here to help.

How We Support Students

We know that asking for help can sometimes feel hard. That’s why our approach is warm, understanding, and non-judgmental. Every student’s experience is different, so we offer a variety of ways to connect and get support:

  • Call our office: 250-703-2904
  • Connect with one of our homestay coordinators: Younhee.Edmonds@sd71.bc.ca or Krista.Oliphant@sd71.bc.ca
  • Connect with your school ISP Teacher: They can help with academic, personal, or social concerns.
  • Connect with our International Student Experience Coordinator: Adrienne.Daniel@sd71.bc.ca
  • Speak with your host family: Often, sharing your feelings is the first step to finding solutions.
  • Use the Student Support Request Form: If you’d rather write down your concerns or aren’t sure where to start, this form is a simple, confidential way to reach our support team.

No concern is too small. Many students just need advice, someone to listen, or support solving a problem. If something is more serious, we’ll make sure you get the help you need as quickly as possible.

Our Approach

We believe that every student deserves to feel safe, respected, and included. Our support process is:

  • Student-centered: Your experience and wellbeing come first.
  • Approachable: There’s no wrong way to reach out, and no problem is too small.
  • Non-judgmental: We’re here to listen and help, not to judge or blame.
  • Collaborative: We’ll work with you to find solutions that make sense for your situation.

What Happens When You Use the Student Support Request Form?
