Weather Permitting

Our first hiking outing! We will hike to Lake Helen MacKenzie, which is not too challenging and a classic, friendly Vancouver Island hike. The first trail heading to Lake Helen MacKenzie is well-maintained, including raised wooden walkways. You will pass by numerous sub-alpine meadows and small ponds as you hike. There are many other lakes on the plateau, all a short way from the trailhead, so the possibilities for exploration are endless. The hike is approximately 2 hours round trip.

After the hike, we will ride the chair lift to the spectacular Alpine Meadows, where they can view the Pacific Ocean in the distance.

The cost for this activity is $25.00/student.

Registration opens Thursday, August 29, at 10:00 a.m.

Experience the breathtaking scenery of the Discovery Passage and surrounding Islands aboard either a Zodiac or Covered vessel for half of the day. We will explore through remote passages, active tidal zones and stunning scenery, searching for Humpback Whales, Orca Whales, Pacific White Sided Dolphins, Porpoises, Sea Lions, and so much more marine wildlife!

In the second half of the day, we will hike through the forest and listen to the sound of the powerful Elk Falls waterfall, which is thunderous. At 64 meters above the Campbell River, the Elk Falls Suspension Bridge is the highest pedestrian bridge on Vancouver Island! We will hike through the serene old-growth forest to Deer Falls, checking out the different viewing platforms along the way.

The cost for this activity is $150.00/student.

From downtown Victoria to Chinatown, the oldest is in Canada, and the second is in North America, only after San Francisco. Fan Tan Alley in Victoria’s Chinatown is in the heart of Chinatown, known as the World’s Narrowest Street.

Overnight Trip

An excitement-packed three-day trip over to the big City of Vancouver!

The ferry across the Strait of Georgia is a must-do experience while studying in the Comox Valley. The Strait of Georgia is part of a vast estuary system where hundreds of rivers flow into the sea. The Strait of Georgia is one of the world’s most biologically productive marine ecosystems, with a habitat of thousands of fish, marine mammals, invertebrates, shorebirds, and marine plants, and there is a good chance we will see Whales!

Once in Vancouver, we’ll be at Stanley Park for a walking tour and take in the FlyOver Canada show. The FlyOver Canada is a fun, thrilling, sky-high adventure aboard the original coast-to-coast Canada flight ride.

We’ll spend the evening at the world-famous Canadian spectacular Cirque Du Soleil show, ECHO! With incredible acrobatics, silk aerialists, 25-foot double highwires and unforgettable choreography, we will experience the story of a naïve clown looking for his place in the world.

We will embrace the City of Vancouver in all its beauty while also attending a Hockey Game to watch the Vancouver Canucks vs New York Islanders.

We will give you plenty of time to do Christmas shopping on Robson Street, famous for its fashion shops and dining. Of course, downtown Vancouver is the “Vancouver Luxury Zone,” which contains the city’s most upscale stores.

Coach transportation, 2-night hotel accommodation, Breakfast daily, admission to FlyOver Canada, the Cirque De Soleil ticket and Canucks ticket will be included in the fee.

The cost for this trip will be $450.00.
